Ramadhan, the fasting month, makes Bandung livelier than the usual days. Like this excitement found to Graha Manggala Siliwangi, 66th Aceh Street. From 18th to 22nd of August, 2010; an event called Ramadhan Fair is held here. This creative exhibition features unique products from SMEs around Indonesia. And we, Bandung Review, were there to show you a glimpse of the dazzling crowd.
We found some creative products at Ramadhan Fair. From the fashion section, there are Batik from Java, Malayans and Borneofamous Borneo’s woven clothing; a bunch of handmade home decoration and accessories; Sumedang’s famous bamboo handicrafts; female accessories from Swarovski crystals; and our personal favorite, toiletries made of glass. Feels something is dancing inside your tummy? We recommend to you visit these Indonesian delicacies, such as Garut’s crackers, ginger flavored chocolate from Bogor, Kemojo cake from Riau, and the famous batagor of Bandung. Some children contests also here to tone up the crowd. Cute and energetic children participate in some contests, like coloring-the-picture contest and kids fashion show featuring batik and Moslem wear.
Even though the first day of the event was started at 4PM; we noticed that the crowd was packed up in front of the venue since 10 AM. Locals and out-of-town tourists gathered around to watch the exbihition, even some of them were doing such a shopping trip here at Ramadhan Fair. At 4 PM, the opening ceremony started to kick, with various art performances. But, the most stunning one went to beautiful ladies who performed Jaipong dance (Sundanese traditional dance) with a mix of modern choreography.
