Built since 1994, the market now lies on a 5.800 m2 area with more than 150 sellers available. It operates since morning until 5 to 6 PM in the afternoon. Stepping into Sukahaji Bird Market, the beautiful chirping voices will greet you right away; coming from various birds like turtledoves, magpies, sparrows, starlings and many more. You also will meet people training doves to participate on bird races. To buy them, the sellers provide a wide range of price depending on its quality, starting from tens thousand of Rupiahs to super quality birds which cost you hundreds of million Rupiahs, equal to a car’s price. Birdies pet equipment also available on the market, such as bird cages, bird food and other supporting equipments. For cages, there are unique cages with sophisticated carvings sold for quite expensive prices.

Other fowls, like chickens, ducks and gooses are sold for consumption needs or merely just to become regular home pets. Furry and adorable friends also could be found here, from dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, squirrels, white mouse, rabbits, even unique and rare animals like bats and owls.
