Feeling down and low? Tired of the hectic and heavy polluted city? Then maybe a splash of cold water will chill you out. Come on get it at the waterfall, or in Sundanese we call it “curug”. If you wondering where to start, we suggest you to stopover to these top five waterfalls of Bandung.
1. Curug Dago
Located inside the Taman Hutan Raya (THR) Djuanda, Dago, the place itself can be easily reached because it is not too far away from Dago Terminal of Northern Bandung. Its view is so splendid and you can learn the blast from the past by exploring historical caves, named Dutch Caves and Japanese Caves, based on their colonialism era here in Indonesia.
2. Curug Omas-Maribaya
Maribaya is an old park, built in 1835 by the Dutch colonialist and developed by a Sundanese man called Eyang Reksa Dinata. You can reach it aproximately 5 km east of Lembang, Northern Bandung. This natural park is filled with pine trees all over the place. Even though it has several waterfalls, but the most famous one goes to the 25-meter-height Curug Omas. If you are excited to discover its beauty, just stroll through the bridges which are built through the upside and downside of Curug Omas.
3. Curug Cimahi
Meet the highest waterfalls in Bandung, spotted not too far from Curug Cimahi. This 85-meter-height waterfall with such clear, clean and cool water is really tempting you to swim or at least have some splish splash underneath it. One unique experience that also waited for you is the 500 stairs welcoming from the entrance and ends at the downhill of the curug.
4. Curug Malela
Many called it the miniature of Niagara, as it formed from a few smaller waterfalls. It is located in Cicadas Village of Western Bandung. Unfortunately, its charm is still hidden because it hasn’t reached such popularity like the other waterfalls.
5. Curug Bugbrug
This waterfall is just a glimpse from Curug Cimahi, at Kolonel Masturi Street to be exact. The distinct feature that it has is plateaus from frozen lava lying across the pathway to Curug Bugbrug. The clean and clear water reflect the fishes swimming and water plants growing inside of it, just like mirrors.
Enjoying the beauty of Bandung’s waterfalls is like welcoming the paradise. Remember to preserve it by keeping it clean, neat and tidy. Have a great splash here at the curug! (FA/RA)
