Bonding with Nature at Situ Cileunca

Pangalengan of Southern Bandung is famous for its amazing sceneries and cool relaxing air surrounds it. It also has several interesting tourism spot which are worth to explore, including this lake called Situ Cileunca (situ is a Sundanese term for lake). Visiting this lake will give you an unforgettable experience, as it served you the best view of greens and calming water with the cool breeze hitting you from time to time. No wonder, many people refer Situ Cileunca as the Indonesian version of Switzerland. This artificial lake was made back in 1912, by a Dutch guy named Kuhlan. Actually, he formed the lake to generate electricity and to become a water resource for the people living around the area.

Now, Situ Cileunca is one of potential tourism spot here in Bandung. With mountains surrounding the lake, like Wayang Mountain, Windu Mountain and Malabar Mountain, really pampers our eye with beautiful green view all over the place. The warmth presented by the villagers of Pulosari and Warnasari welcomes us with the special friendliness of Southern Bandung people. The cool and clean air around Situ Cileunca completed the reasons why we feels so homey here and don’t even want to move an inch.

You can explore the beauty of Situ Cileunca by riding a rented boat rented which you may find along the side of the lake. The cool breeze, wonderful sights and the fresh splash of the lake bring you a different sensation which is so rare to find in the city. On weekends, lots of townies from Bandung come to Situ Cileunca to strech out and relax, try to escape from their hectic routines for a while. One boat trip around the lake will costs you about Rp. 75.000. For adrenaline junkies, you could try rafting in Situ Cileunca. With Rp. 200.000, you can explore a 1,5 km route of Palayangan River with its swift streams here and there. Conquering the challenge definitely will boost up your natural wilderness spirit.
